Weimar Quartet Play Basque Songs by Guridi

Weimar Guitar Quartet (Stephanie JonesHanna LinkKarmen StendlerJakob Schmidt) play Basque Songs by Jesús Guridi (1886 – 1961). You can read about the piece below via Stendler’s YouTube but also see my recent post about their fantastic debut album. Have fun with the 360º video (use your cursor on the video).

We hope you enjoy this 360 video we recorded right before our concert in Baden-Baden. 🙂 Jesús Guridi (1886 – 1961) was a Spanish Basque composer, whose works drew influence and inspiration from Basque folklore. He studied music in Zaragoza, Madrid, Bilbao, Paris, Brussels and Cologne and in 1944 became a professor at the Superior Conservatory in Madrid. The titles of the two songs presented in this video are Alba Baita and Alabatua and the arrangement was done by Francis Goudard / Thomas Müller-Pering.

  1. I just want to congratulate and thank Stephanie for, in my opinion as an amateur who’s been playing the guitar for over 50 years, you are among the handful of best interpreters I’ve ever heard. You have certainly been blessed with an extraordinary musical talent. Thank you for the joy you can bring to so many guitar lovers.
