The Virtual Guitar Orchestra plays Kaleidokithara by Sergio Assad with 144 players from over 50 countries. This project was created by orchestra founder Mak Grgic along with Sergio Assad and Uros Baric. The video comes via Uros Baric’s YouTube channel. The massive video project was edited by the Uros (just think of the logistics, such amazing work). I was very happy to be able to take part in the orchestra section and see all the enthusiastic players in the video. See the YouTube description for the list of all the pros and player who took part. They also have a great fundraising campaign for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). See their Fundraising Page and help out! Here’s what Uros posted on YouTube about the project:
This video represents a collaborative effort of 144 people, each and every one of them trying their very best to craft a beautiful stone for this mosaic.
Mak and I wanted to create a way to connect all classical guitarists in these tough and uncertain times – everyone from students to amateur guitarists to world class soloists – in doing what we all love most: playing music together.
I’ve been working on this video day and night over the past three weeks aiming to produce something really special and worthy of everyone involved. Let’s make this the most viewed classical guitar video of 2020, with your help we can do it!
Please share the video, send it to all your friends, comment here and on YouTube as well, show your family where you appear in the video, they will be so proud!
Finally, I would like to express a heartfelt thanks all the orchestra members, to Sergio Assad whose work has always been an inspiration to me, it’s been a great pleasure working with you, thanks also to my good friend Mak for the great idea and always making things happen. Finally, thanks to all 27 soloists, you are amazing and I really cherish the time and effort you’ve put into this project. Enjoy and #stayhome
