Victoria Guitar Trio with Adrian Verdejo, Michael Dias and Bradford Werner perform Temporal Waves by Vancouver composer Jordan Nobles.

As I prepare for a trio concert in Vancouver this weekend I thought I’d share one of the pieces we are playing (plus I couldn’t find anything else to post!). We have an entire programme of new music by Canadian composers but I love the modulating meters and beautiful harmonies in this one. Metric modulation slowly shifts the meter based on new rhythmic figures that occur and become the primary rhythmic element.
