Vietnamese guitarist Thu Le graduated from the Hanoi National Conservatory of Music in the year 2001. I’ve been following her videos on her YouTube and was particularly impressed both with her performances of traditional classical rep such as the Introduction and Rondo Brilliante Op.2, No.2 by Dionisio Aguado (great video above) and arrangements such as Loi Lo, a Traditional Vietnamese song (below), and most recently, her performance of Bach’s Prelude from Lute Suite BWV 997 (below). She can really switch musical roles from lushly phrased rubato to very direct and articulated virtuosity, specifically in the Aguado but really in all of these. Check out 3:40 onward in the Aguado for a real switch to intense scale and arpeggio work!
