Canadian guitarist Steve Cowan performs Prelude No.1 in C major by Manuel Ponce (1882-1948) on a Roberto Gomes (Brazil) guitar at the Grand Guitar Salon over in Montreal, Québec, Canada. This comes via the Salon’s great YouTube channel. Sound & video by Renaud Côté Giguère. Great playing by Cowan as usual with excellent phrasing and contrasts. I love these little preludes by Ponce and this one is quite touching. They are short and relatively simple but not all that easy for students so you don’t hear them everyday. Nice when performed by pros. You can find the sheet music at SMP: 24 Preludes for Guitar by Ponce.
