Stephanie Jones Invierno Porteño by Piazzolla

Australian guitarist Stephanie Jones plays Invierno Porteño by Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) and arranged by Sérgio Assad. This comes via her great YouTube Channel. Fantastic playing as always from this exciting young artist studying in Germany. Always musical but also daring and virtuosic she is an artist to keep track of. Here’s her blurb from Youtube: “Another one of my favourite pieces to play – it is such a beautiful work, an expressive mixture of singing melodies and captivating rhythm. Piazzolla’s New Tango is not just simple dance music, but an emotionally rich world, melding together nuances of both classical and jazz music…Invierno Porteño is one work from a set of four tango compositions. Each piece was conceived as an individual composition, but together they form the Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas, or The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Porteño is an adjective for people born in Buenos Aires, and the word Invierno refers to Winter.”
