Rob MacDonald Plays Percussion Study I by Kampela

Rob MacDonald - Guitar

Canadian guitarist Rob MacDonald plays Percussion Study I by composer Arthur Kampela. Rob is a fantastic player and also has a great duo with Tracy Anne Smith called ChromaDuo. The video and sound is produced by the amazing Canadian guitarist/producer Drew Henderson who’s name continues to be synonymous with musical and audiovisual excellence. Great articulations and soundscape by MacDonald. This is such an intense and complicated work but he really breezes through it with easy to understand gestures. Nice work. Arthur Kampela “holds a Doctorate in music composition from Columbia University where he studied with Mario Davidowsky and Fred Lerdahl. Previously, he studied with Ursula Mamlok at Manhattan School of Music (1992). He has also received private lessons from British composer Brian Ferneyhough (1993). In Brazil (1986-8) he studied with the German composer Hans-Joachim Koellreutter.” The name dropping gives an idea of the circles he’s in but read more about him at his biography page.
