Rafael Aguirre Plays Rodrigo’s Toccata

The amazing Rafael Aguirre plays Toccata para guitarra by Joaquín Rodrigo (1901–1999). This comes via the Paris Guitar Foundation and their YouTube Channel. “Directed by Augustin Pesnon. A movie shot at Victoria and Joaquín Rodrigo’s residencies Madrid and San Martín de Valdeiglesias (Spain), where the Rodrigo family spent summer holidays.” The piece was only recently discovered in the archives of Regino Sainz de la Maza. Written in 1933 for Sainz de la Maza to play on his 1934 South American concert tour it wasn’t played in public until June 2006 by Marcin Dylla, in Madrid.
