Quarter Patterns by Tuomas Kettunen

Taavi Kiviranta & Mikael Rechardt play QUARTER PATTERNS for two guitars tuned a quarter tone apart (1st gtr 1/4 higher) composed by Tuomas Kettunen. This comes via Kettunen’s YouTube Channel. Quarter tone pieces always make me feel suspended in some kind of static harmonic field. I really like the ensemble imitation and rhythmic continuity of this work which creates a hypnotic weaving texture that builds up and releases. In particular the dissipation that begins at 4:50 and the suddenly interruptions afterward. Scores are available upon request to the composer.
