Pacific MusicWorks: Baptista, Plà, Zipoli

Stephen Stubbs (baroque guitar/director) along with Tekla Cunningham (baroque violin), Christine Beckman (baroque violin), Caroline Nicolas (baroque cello), Maxine Eilander (baroque harp), Henry Lebedinsky (organ/harpsichord), Antonio Gomez (percussion), play an excerpt from their virtual release on Dec 12th, 2020 from Allegro from Trio Sonata in D minor (excerpt) by Joan Baptista (1720-1773) and José Plà (1728-1762). This comes via the Pacific MusicWorks on their YouTube.

Another beautiful performance by one my favourite musicians via the excellent early music society Pacific MusicWorks. Great to see the Baroque guitar in action and the ensemble being directed by Stubbs. When strummed in chamber music the Baroque guitar really combines with the harpsichord to create some exciting rhythmic accompaniment.

Here’s another recent video of them playing Zuipaqui by Domenico Zipoli (1688-1726) joined by Danielle Sampson (soprano).
