Lenny Ranallo and Tim Beattie perform Ouroboros Miniatures (2008) for two guitars by Gabriel Bolaños (1984). Originally broadcast at the 21C Guitar Festival. This comes via Beattie’s YouTube channel. Excellent performance and ensemble skills by Ranallo and Beattie with intricate articulations and a wealth of curious textures. I quite like these miniatures and with some of them reminding me of Marc Mellits duo etudes but with a bit more variation in texture and compositional style. Gabriel José Bolaños (b. 1984 Bogotá, Colombia) is a Nicaraguan-American composer of solo, chamber, orchestral and electroacoustic music currently at teaching at Arizona State University Herberger Institute.
