Narváez’s arrangement is originally for vihuela. Based on the four part chanson Mille regretz de vous habandonner by Josquin des Prez (d.1521). Original spelling by Narvaez is “Mille Regres”. This is an intabulation of Mille regretz de vous habandonner by Josquin des Prez (d.1521) but there is some debate as to the original composer.  Narvaez called it Canción del Emperador as it was a favourite of Emperor Charles V. The original text translates to:

A thousand regrets at deserting you
and leaving behind your loving face,
I feel so much sadness and such painful distress,
that it seems to me my days will soon dwindle away.

Why do guitarists use capos and 3rd string F# tuning?
