Michael Partington and Stephen Stubbs performing Anton Diabelli’s Op. 57, on two period guitars. Brechemin Auditorium, University of Washington School of Music, Seattle. January 12, 2014. This is such a coincidence because I recently saw Stubbs perform in Victoria twice this fall. One concert he was directing and playing lute in Monteverdi madrigals with his excellent Pacific Music Works and then again directing and playing from the harpsichord for Bach oratorios! Now here he is on guitar. How he finds time to practice lute, harpsichord, guitar, while directing a major early music ensemble I do not know. This man is a genius folks, he is one of my favourite musicians both for his musicianship but also his energy and musical vision!
