Marcin Dylla performs Sonata, Op.23 (after Haydn Hob. XVI:32) by Wenzel Thomas Matiegka (1773-1830). This comes via Dylla’s YouTube channel. Wonderful performance by Dylla with lots of energy and directional phrasing. It’s also great to hear this sonata as I have it previously bookmarked for making my own edition. Matiegka’s full Viennese-style sonata and the inclusion of the Haydn content and fugue make this one particularly interesting.
Wenzel Thomas Matiegka (Václav Tomáš Matějka, Wenzeslav, or Wenzeslaus) was a Czech composer, guitarist, and pianist. Matiegka eventually moved to Vienna where he became well known as a guitarist, composer and teacher of the piano. He was included and respected in the musical circles of Vienna.

I Admire his art to play and articulate this difficult music – although I don’t like it really!
As a beginner I find that my fingertips are bit painful after a lesson. Is there any suggested medical treatment to make the finger skin pads a litttle less painful?
