Marcello Fantoni Plays Sinfonia dall’Italiana in Algeri di Rossini Op.2 by Legnani

Marcello Fantoni performs Sinfonia dall’Italiana in Algeri di Rossini Op.2 by Luigi Legnani (1790-1877) on a period Johann Anton Stauffer (Vienna 1845 ca.) guitar. This comes via Edoardo Lambertenghi’s excellent YouTube channel. An amazing performance filled with an excellent contrast of showy flare and melodic shaping. The 19th century guitar really shines here by keeping the sound contained and plucky and offering definition of the lines amongst the fun chaos.
