Marcello Fantoni Plays La Clochette Op.325 by Carulli

Marcello Fantoni performs La Clochette Op.325, Fantaisie pour la Guitare sur un Thème de Paganini by Ferdinando Carulli (1770-1841) on a period François René Lacôte, 1820 guitar. This comes via Edoardo Lambertenghi’s excellent YouTube channel. La Clochette is based on the theme from Rondo à la Clochette, the final movement of Niccolò Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 2. Awesome playing by Fantoni with an abundance of energy and dramatic phrasing and articulation. He really has a fantastic ability to make Carulli exciting and fresh.

  1. Amazing and beautiful. What playing! And so unbelievable that a guitar that old should sound so wonderful (never mind just surviving). Nice post!
