Made in Canada Duo (Michael Ibsen and Nathan Bredeson) play Danse Burleque by Canadian composer Daniel Mehdizadeh. This comes via Ibsen’s Youtube channel. This video was taken from a live recording of their concert at the Canadian Music Centre in Toronto. “Danse Burleque is a character piece for two guitars that utilizes shifting rhythms and contrapuntal techniques to create a sinister and unpredictable dance between the two guitar parts.” You might remember this work from my previous review of Steve Cowan’s album Pour guitare. Nice playing by Ibsen and Bredeson of all the intricate accents and juxtapositions in this exciting work. See more Canadian guitar at my dedicated category: Classical Guitar Canada.
