English guitarist Laura Snowden performs her composition, Anpao, in the crypt at St John’s Smith Square. I like the vocal part too, very effective, especially with the choice of filming in that beautiful crypt. The piece reminds me of Aphex Twin meets Ravel meets Morton Feldman, maybe that’s a stretch…it sounds like Snowden! Produced by Dave Holland, Ioannis Theodoridis and Duncan Appleby. “Laura began her studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School, where guitar tuition was made possible by a donation from the Rolling Stones; she went on to study at the Royal College of Music, winning the Guitar Prize in her first year and the Ivor Mairants Guitar Award in 2014. She currently teaches at the Yehudi Menuhin School and was invited to teach at the International Guitar Foundation’s Summer School this August.” Read more about her at her bio page.
