Judicaël Perroy plays Choro de Saudade by Paraguayan guitarist and composer Agustín Barrios Mangoré (1885–1944). This comes via Guitar Salon International and their YouTube. Here he’s demoing a new Jose Ramirez Antigua guitar. I’ve always liked listening to and watching Judicael Perroy for his extroverted but expressive playing. He digs into the guitar but manages to still pull off the phrasing and balance of the melody. Sheet Music via Amazon: Complete Works of Barrios Vol. 1

Seeing and hearing these enormous talents go together and should not be separated. Most memorable performance for me took place last year in a recital at Kent State Stark (Ohio). Quick transition from Bach to twentieth century Hungarian dance music in two seconds was unforgettable and worth much praise. He plunged head first into the second selection so quickly that the audience was stumbling in their chairs over come with astonishment. Nothing could have been better and it did not get any better than that achievement.
