Jon Gjylaci Plays Grande Ouverture by Giuliani

UK guitarist Jon Gjylaci Plays Grande Ouverture Op. 61 by Mauro Giuliani (1781–1829). For such a famed work it’s getting more rare to see it pop up these days. It was heavily played in the past and I remember listening to Bream’s recording a ton. It has that classical era flare that mixes serious musical drive with indulgent flamboyance. It’s nice to hear the longer form and building momentum of classical works. I know this work intimately as my roommate in college worked on this piece and Carter’s Changes for about a year (the mood in that apartment changed rapidly sometimes!). Filmed at Victoria Hall, Bolton, UK by Mill Productions.

You can get the facsimile score online or a modern edition via Sheet Music Plus: Grade Overture Op. 61 by Giuliani.
