Jennifer Kim Plays Barrios

Jennifer Kim - Guitar

As you know, I often share youth performances as it is exciting to watch a new generation of guitar players transition from youth players to professionals. Here’s 17-year-old Jennifer Kim playing Agustín Barrios’ ‘Un Sueño en la Floresta’ on a new Felipe Conde CE-4 cedar-top classical guitar at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA via their great Vimeo Channel. She has a curious left hand with some bendy fingers and locked pinky but she still pulls this difficult work off beautifully so bravo to her! You can also see more videos of Jennifer on her YouTube Channel.

  1. Thanks for sharing Jennifer’s video, and I have to agree that in watching many young guitarist’s videos, the future of the guitar is in good hands.

Yes, Jennifer has some left-hand contortions that most would try to avoid, but keep in mind that she is playing on a large scale instrument and Un Sueno has ridiculous stretches. More important to me is the relaxation in her arms and shoulders which allows her to be so flexible. Also note how relaxed and nice her hands look when Jennifer is not stretched out.

    Best,
