Isaac Bustos plays Prelude No. 3 by Villa-Lobos

Isaac Bustos performs Prelude No. 3 in A Minor by Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959). This comes via his great YouTube Channel. Audio and Video by Mark Bueno. 2013 Martin Blackwell Spruce doubletop guitar. Great performance by Bustos, filled with rubato and sweet phrasing. The inner section of this very much reminds me of the inner section to Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5. However, the piece is subtitled “Homenagem a Bach” (Homage to Bach), is in the key of A minor, and is the third of the Five Preludes, written in 1940. Those sequences in the inner section are likely part of the Bach influence.

Sheet Music: I recommend this newer edition via Amazon: Villa-Lobos Preludes (Zigante).
