Heike Matthiesen Plays Spanish Dance by Pratten

Heike Matthiesen performs Spanish Dance by Catharina Josepha Pratten (1824-1895), also know as Madame Sidney Pratten. This comes via her YouTube channel. Great playing by Matthiesen with sharp rhythmic displays and exciting flourishes. Seeing more and more Pratten performed these days which is nice, lots of the scores are available on imslp if you’re looking for them. I’m looking forward to making more Pratten editions, the only two I’ve done are listed below. Here’s what Matthiesen mentions on her YouTube:

A legendary composer, virtuosa, editor and teacher ( among her pupils were the daughters of Queen Victoria!), she was born in Cologne/ Germany as Catharina Josepha Pelzer in 1824, toured as child prodigy with Giulio Regondi, married flutist and composer Robert Pratten and lived then until her death in 1895 in London.
