Giulio Tampalini playing Giovanni Podera’s Contrasti (Omaggio a Frank Martin). I like this for a few reasons. I’ve always loved Martin’s musical language, the mix of serialism with strong tonal centers mixed in to keep the listener centred and grounded. However, this work has some nice idiomatic moments in it. The composer is a guitarist himself which help to explain this.
