  1. Hello Bradford,

As for left hand technique in this section, other than staying relaxed, should I be aiming to apply the same concepts from the classical guitar section? For example, should I still be keeping my thumb directly behind the second finger, and should I prioritize keeping my fingers close to the frets or keeping my palm parallel to the neck with these chord shapes? I am still working to develop enough strength in my left hand to keep these shapes down.

    Please advise,

    Joe

    • In general follow the usual advise on technique but if a chord requires a small adjustment in the hand position just try to keep it minimal but still comfortable. Also, remember that strength is not needed in the left hand. It’s actually accuracy, relaxation, and directional pressure that will make the left hand work best. These little nylon strings are so easy to push down but when we multitask and play multiple notes we tend to want to use more and more pressure. But the real tip is to play close to the fret, and direct the pressure directly down into the string/fret.

  2. Happy New Year, Bradford! Thank you for making your Vol. 1 method book free, and along with the videos it has really helped with my fundamentals! Just wondering if you were still planning to make a fingerstyle accompaniment video to go along with the end of the book, I would love to get your feedback on approaching this section. Thanks in advance!

  3. Hello Bradford

I have completed the first part of the first free volume, without going to the “accompaniment” section. Do you think I can start studying the second volume, jumping this part? I don’t think it’s essential to go on.
    Thank you
