Evangelina Mascardi performs Preludio e Fuga in D Minor by Sylvius Leopold Weiss (1686–1750) on a 13-course Baroque lute in Bassano, Teverina, Italy. This comes via Mascardi’s amazing YouTube channel. Wonderful performance by Mascardi with beautiful flowing galant style and ornamentation. These were two of the first works I played by Weiss and was immediately mesmerized by the late-Baroque style. Hearing lute performances such as this one really clarifies the the performance style in comparison to a Bach-ian interpretation. Lovely.
