Great to hear a new album by Canadian classical guitarist Brett Gunther. Distant Times. Distant Shores. features a wide range of repertoire including works by Albéniz, Bach, Tarrega, Scarlatti, Koehne, Barrios and a number of folk song arrangements. The pieces originate from far and wide including Australia, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, The United States, Germany, Paraguay, and Italy, from the Baroque Period to the Present. I even enjoyed the nice artwork by Quinn Goddard.

Congrats to Gunther on his performance of the massive sonata by Bach. This one of Bach’s most expansive sonatas with one of the longest and most involved fugues in the repertoire. Also listen to the beautiful Cowboy Waltz by the late Michael Chapdelaine. There’s something for everyone on this album, from classics to new discoveries.
