The Davin-Levin Duo play Etude No. 6 by Philip Glass (b.1937), originally for piano, arranged with permission from Dunvagen Music Publishers. This comes via their great YouTube Channel. The Davin-Levin Duo is comprised of Emily Levin, Principal Harp with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and Colin Davin, Guitar Co-Head at the Cleveland Institute of Music guitar program. Great playing by both musicians, polished phrasing and refined ensemble playing. The arranging is good too, guitars can sometimes sound dull next to the harp but they really pull it off keeping the guitar in a rhythmic role with accents. Plus Davin’s bell-like tone helps too! The result is mesmerizing with amazing energy and direction in the form of the piece. I feel like this should be the theme music for the next big HBO show…
