Daniel Lippel Plays Vigeland & Eckardt

Above: Daniel Lippel premieres House Music by Nils Vigeland (b.1950). This comes via Lippel’s YouTube channel where you can watch a ton of interesting new music projects and works. Lippel has done some amazing work over the years and has real new music street cred (go subscribe to his Youtube now). Vigeland’s work has some interesting soundscapes and contrasts between delicate spacious textures and bursts of intensity. Excellent playing by Lippel matching the precision and thoughtful pacing of the work. Super pretty final movement/section.

Speaking of interesting soundscapes, I also watched the below video last week. Lippel performs Equilibrium (mvt. III from multi-movement soprano and ensemble work, Tongues) by Jason Eckardt (b.1971) via this YouTube link along with Tony Arnold (soprano), Daniel Lippel (guitar), and David Fulmer (conductor) via the International Contemporary Ensemble.  Recorded live at Roulette Intermedium, Brooklyn on May 19, 2015.
