Classical Guitar Technique from Foundation to Virtuosity by Stanley Yates

Classical Guitar Technique from Foundation to Virtuosity - Yates

This book is serves an important and useful purpose in the classical guitar pedagogy library. It is very text heavy but with that comes a wealth of knowledge gained from Stanley Yates’s years of professional experience. Part 1 is 198 page while part 2 is 240 pages making this one of the most comprehensive technique books ever published. This quote from the great Angelo Gilardino says it all: “With this work, Stanley Yates goes beyond the traditional concept of the guitar method or the guitar technique treatise. The history of the instrument includes outstanding examples, but none that constitutes an adequate precedent to this book from the Anglo-American master…”. My only complaint about this book is that I find it difficult to use in the practice room. It’s a great book in terms of knowledge and learning but it’s hard to open up and build a practice routine from. That said, if you want information this book will provide answers to all your questions. It’s an essential buy.
