Antigoni Goni Performs Maxixe by Barrios

Greek guitarist Antigoni Goni plays Maxixe by Agustín Barrios Mangoré (1885–1944). This comes via William Jenks’ YouTube channel. Fantastic and extroverted playing of this dance work. Goni is a legendary performer and artist and I’m so glad that this video appeared as I haven’t had a chance to feature her until now. Goni is a British council, Royal Academy and Juilliard School scholar. Notably, she studied with Julian Bream, Sharon Isbin, Oscar Ghiglia, John Mills, and Evangelos Assimakopoulos. She’s a huge prize winner and recording artist, read more about her via her bio page.

This concert excerpt is taken from the fourth concert of the U.S. International Guitar Series Season 2021 featuring Greek guitarist Antigoni Goni which took place in Sint-Truiden, Belgium on April 18, 2021.
